In addition to creating and authoring Retirement Income Visions™, Robert Klein is the President of Retirement Income Center, a Registered Investment Advisor located in Newport Beach, California. Bob founded the firm in 2011 in order to promote his specialization and expertise in retirement income planning.
Bob was previously the President of Financial Design Center from 1998 to 2011. Bob is also the sole proprietor of Robert Klein, CPA which he founded in 1989. The firm celebrated its 22nd anniversary in 2011. Prior to starting his CPA firm, Bob worked for national and local CPA and financial planning firms in New York, New Jersey, and California beginning in 1980.
Along with his niche in retirement income planning, Bob has been recognized for his expertise in financial independence planning, management, and protection for high net worth individuals and families.
Bob has been quoted in various publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo! Personal Finance, Bankrate.com, Wells Fargo Small Business Roundup Newsletter, and Wealth Manager Magazine.
In March, 2010, Bob was named a 2010 FIVE STAR Wealth Manager in the Orange County, California area. This marks two years in a row that Bob has received this elite award. Bob was chosen as a result of a rigorous independent research process designed to identify those wealth managers who scored highest in client satisfaction. Bob is part of a select group representing fewer than 3% of wealth managers in the Orange County area who were featured in the March, 2010 edition of Orange Coast magazine.
Bob is a member of Advisor Products Inc.’s Editorial Advisory Board. The Editorial Advisory Board includes twelve of the nation’s leading financial advisors. The board suggests story ideas and provides information about financial topics. It also reviews all stories for technical accuracy as part of a rigorous editorial review process.
After obtaining his CPA designation in 1982, Bob was awarded the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 1986 and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation in 1995. A glutton for punishment, Bob followed these three designations with Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) in 2006.
Bob’s formal education includes a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers College in 1978, an MBA in Accounting from Rutgers Graduate School of Management in 1980, and an M.S. in Taxation (MST) from Golden Gate University in 1993.
Bob is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), AICPA Personal Financial Planning Division, California Society of CPA’s, and The Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Inc.
Bob lives in Laguna Niguel, California with his wife, Nira, and son, Joshua. When Bob isn't designing and monitoring retirement income planning strategies for his clients, writing this blog, and doing continuing education to maintain his various licenses and credentials, he enjoys activities with his family, golf, skiing, swimming, working out, volunteering, and traveling. Bob also loves music, including playing the piano and guitar, both self-taught.
